Pick a simple but delectable Valentine Day dessert recipe to add the finishing touch to your Valentine dinner. Chocolate is a lovely gift for Valentine’s Day, and it’s good used to add a note of indulgence for your dessert. Another good choice is succulent fresh fruit, which is always so welcome in winter. Any pink or red fruit is ideal, such as strawberries, raspberries or rhubarb. Tropical fruits are also an excellent choice, and for the simplest dessert of all, you could simply serve a platter of sliced fruits such as juicy mango, halved passion fruits, fresh pineapple chunks and papaya wedges. Add some cubes of chocolate cake, and a scattering of shelled nuts, and you’ll have an instant and delectable Valentine’s Day dessert.

Here are more ideas for Valentine’s Day desserts.

1. Make it pink
   Early forced rhubarb is a lovely shade of fresh pink that looks so pretty in a mousse. Chop 450g (12 oz) fruit and simmer covered for 10 min in a pan with 50ml (4 tbsp) fresh orange juice, 1 cinnamon stick and 25g (5 tsp) caster sugar, until the rhubarb is tender. Remove the lid and cook for another 5 mins until most of the liquid has evaporated. Stir in 1 tbsp redcurrant jelly and leave to cool. Fold the fruit through 150ml (2/3 cup) 0% fat Greek yogurt, spoon into glasses and chill for 2 hr. This makes six individual portions, and keeps for 1-2 days refrigerated.

2. Just add chocolate
   Prepare a plate of mixed fruit cut into bite-sized pieces. Put 200g (1 cups) dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl and add 50g (1/4 cup) butter, 75ml (1/3 cup) water and 2 tbsp Malibu or brandy. Place over a pan of barely simmering water, so the base of the bowl is just above the surface of the water. Stir occasionally until melted, then stir until smooth. Serve with forks for spearing the fruit and dipping into the chocolate sauce.
3. Celebration sorbet
   Put 600ml (2 cups) apple and mango juice into a pan with the zest of a lemon and 75g caster sugar. Heat gently until the sugar has dissolved, then bring to the boil, simmer for 1 min, then pour into a bowl to cool. Strain into a container and place in the freezer for about 4 hours. Remove from freezer and whisk well to break up the ice crystals, then freeze until firm. Serve piled into glasses and decorated with mint leaves, with chocolate finger biscuits.
4. Heart-shaped delights
   Any dessert can become a Valentine dessert, if you add a heart-shaped decoration. Many cookware shops sell heart-shaped moulds and cutters, which you can use to bake cakes and cookies for the day. Or make a heart-stencil, by cutting a heart out of sheet of thin card. Place the card with the heart-shaped hole on top of a cake or pile of pancakes, and dredge with icing sugar. Lift off stencil carefully.

Keep it healthy, by using low fat ingredients and choosing chocolate with a high proportion of cocoa solids, for these Valentine’s desserts.

Make a paste from a little oatmeal and water. Apply to face and allow to dry. Gently wipe off with a damp wash cloth.

Mash 1/2 banana and add 1 tablespoon honey and 2 tablespoons sour cream. Apply to face and let set for about 10 minutes. Gently wipe off with a damp wash cloth.

Two tablespoons of cornmeal mixed with enough water to make a thick paste makes a great inexpensive facial mask. Gently apply to face and wash off.

In a food processor or blender, combine 1/2 cucumber, 1 tablespoon yogurt, a few strawberries, and 1 teaspoon honey. Apply to face and allow to dry. Gently wipe off with a damp wash cloth.

Grind 1 tablespoon almonds into a fine meal in a blender or food processor. Mix almond meal together with 1 tablespoon honey and 1 egg white. Apply to face and let set for about 15 minutes. Gently wipe off with a damp wash cloth.

To loosen blackheads, combine equal parts baking soda and water in your hand and rub gently on your skin for 2 to 3 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

Mash half of an avocado and apply to entire face. Let set for about 20 minutes and then gently wipe off with a damp wash cloth.

Soak 1 cup dried apricots in water until softened. Puree in blender or food processor with 2 tablespoons skim milk powder. Apply to face and let set about 15 minutes. Gently wipe off with a damp wash cloth.

Puree 1/2 peeled, sliced cucumber in a blender or food processor and add 1 tablespoon yogurt. Apply to face and let set about 20 minutes. Gently wipe off with a damp wash cloth.

Crush a handful of strawberries and mix well with 1 teaspoon honey. Apply to face and let set for about 15 minutes. Gently wipe off with a damp wash cloth.

Mix 1 1/2 teaspoons honey, the juice from 1/2 of a lemon, and 1 small carton plain yogurt. Stir in 1 whipped egg white. Apply to face and let set about 15 minutes. Gently wipe off with a damp wash cloth.

I consider my community a stock market research and education service that is offered to anyone interested in learning how to invest in the market for themselves. I do not manage money and I do not make specific stock picks for anyone in my community. I like to believe that this service is different from most of the stock market services offered on the internet because I aim to teach you how to invest in the market so you do not have to depend on my research for the rest of you trading life. I always wonder how many of my members take the opportunity to make money from our MSW Index stocks. This past weekend (12/3/05), I asked them to look in the mirror and be honest about their results over the past year (and their decisions since the rally was confirmed weekly on MSW on 10/22/05). Since we confirmed the rally on October 22, 2005 (on the weekly screen) our MSW Index stocks have been up over 17% as a group (this groups contains 18 stocks that were listed on the weekly screen on 10/22/05 - very impressive results for so many stocks).

The Index has provided us with many buying opportunities at moving average support, consolidations and pivot point breakouts. Since the last weekly screen (November 19, 2005), the MSW Index has advanced by 6.25% with only two stocks falling for a loss (CRDN and FORD). Forward Industries was the largest loser, falling 6.13%. Our best gainer over the past couple of weeks was LMS which was up 23.25% on big time volume. Of the 26 stocks on the MSW Index, eight of them were up more than 10% while another three stocks were up at least 5% or more. Things move so fast in the market, it is tough to sit back and realize how successful our MSW Index stocks have performed in 2005 versus the rest of the market. A new page will be added as the year closes that will update the performance of the MSW Index versus the major market indices (NASDAQ, DOW, S&P 500). We are currently calculating a weighted MSW Index going back to early 2005 to see how well we have performed compared to the major market indices throughout this entire year.

Many of our members have started to capitalize on their own stocks due to the education and information we have provided them. We screen the top 30 stocks in our opinion but that doesn’t mean that other stocks (outside of MSW) can’t perform better and our members are armed to find these “other” stocks if they want. Many of the stocks listed on our MSW Index have been on our screens since early 2005 and have held up better than most of the market because we stick with stocks that have high relative strength ratings. As of yesterday, 18 of the current 26 MSW Index Stocks were listed on the 10/22/05 weekly screen when we confirmed the rally in late October. The eighteen stocks are up a combined 17.11% as a group with only three of them giving us a loss since the rally began (ADSK, FORD, CTRP). Our biggest winner from the rally start is CUTR with a 63.83% gain; LMS comes in a close second with a 50.69% gain; ESRX follows up third with a 37.79% gain. Overall, ten of the eighteen stocks have gains in the double digit range with eight of them reaching gains of 20% or more. Two of the stocks that have given us losses have been removed from the MSW Index this week and this is not a coincidence. Forward Industries (down over 14% since the start of the rally) has been violating moving averages and support areas so we must remove the stock from our MSW Index (even though it is our #1 gainer in 2005 with more than a 300% gain sine it was first covered on 1/23/05 at $6.38). FORD has made 32 weekly screens MSW in 2005 as it climbed from $6.38 to over $29 at its peak. CTRP, a stock that has been up and down in recent weeks, failed to recover the moving average as the week closed so we are removing it from the MSW Index as we feel it may be headed in the wrong direction.

We don’t expect every member to trade exclusively off of our MSW Index but we know that almost every member learns using our index since we show them how, when, where and why we add and remove stocks to our screens. Using this knowledge to their advantage, they can fine tune their own trading method and become successful trading the markets for many years to come without the aid of our screens. We lead our members to the water and they typically drink the water when they are ready (and we never force them to drink it).

The next time around, they find their own water source and remain hydrated for the rest of their trading lives. This is the goal of MSW, to teach “successful investing through education”. No one will ever be successful trading another investor’s system so we teach each and every member to develop their own system using our philosophy only as a foundation. Long term overseas property investments will benefit from buying into the German property market. This is even more so when buying German property in the areas with a good infrastructure.

You will not be met by much competition in the housing market. The percentage of Germans owning their homes is surprisingly low compared with elsewhere. What’s in a word?
Apparently more than we might want.

For others, the ability to express yourself in the most meaningful way.

I have written articles before on how bizarre the English language can be and for that matter; many languages have special challenges with interpreting meanings.

There is one word in China that I heard has about 40 different meanings, (one source said the two words have over 80 meanings) depending on usage and emphasis. That word is Wu Li.
Gary Zukav (author of “The Seat of the Soul”) talks about it in his book “The Dancing Wu Li Masters.

For the book “The Dancing Wu Li Masters”, it means patterns of organic energy or physics.
Other more popular meanings are:

My Way
Nonsense
I clutch my ideas
Enlightened

For those who study both metaphysics and quantum physics, like myself, I find it interesting that it carries physics and enlightened as meanings.

In English, we have many words that people will interchange yet have different meanings, which can further confuse the receiver of your message.

Two such words are, effective and efficient.
Effective is doing the right thing, that which you set out to do.
Efficiency is doing whatever you set out to do well.

You can have one without necessarily having the other. Most people understand doing the right thing but not well, yet they get caught up on understanding how you can do the wrong thing well, efficiency without effectiveness.

Imagine you are on a sailboat traveling across the Pacific when you are informed:

We have some good news and bad news. First, we have picked up a great wind and can get back on our time schedule; however, our compass broke and we haven’t the slightest idea where we are.

So, they are traveling very efficiently, but not very effectively.

Even the spelling of words can cause grief and misunderstandings. I remember when I was in elementary school and the teacher would just say, sound it out. However, that doesn’t always work. There is the whole issue of synonyms and homonyms, as well as the issue that we have this habit if breaking the rules in order to have more expression and growth in our language. (Growth by the way is important).

Yet, one of the most enforced rules that I had to remember in schools was:

Use i before e (from here on it gets complicated)
except after c
or when sounded as ‘a’ as in neighbour and weigh.

But does it stop there, noooo.

Some more exceptions that don’t seem to follow any of the above are:

foreign

forfeit

Height

seize

leisure

efficient

(and ironically or suitably) weird

Many more words can be spelling traps for people. They sound similar and many people are not sure where to put them.

Some common ones are:

Effect- a noun - a result, a verb- bring to pass

Allude -refer indirectly to
Elude - slip away

Can -ability
May- permission

Farther -physical distance
Further - abstract relationships of degree

Imply - A speaker implies

Infer - A hearer infers

Such as- examples
Like - resemblances

When Honda launched the Acura brand in 1986, two models powered the fleet: the Integra and the Legend. Since then many other models have been added to the Acura line up and the Integra was eventually renamed the RSX and the Legend was later given the RL designation. After two decades of service, the Integra/RSX is in its final year of production. Please read on for reasons why the Honda Motor Company will kill off this once popular seller.

Blowing Up Bridges — When Honda created Acura, the company wanted one “bridge model” to be included in the mix to help Honda owners transition to Acura. The thought back then was that the price differential between the two brands would be too much for many one-time Honda owners to swallow. Thus, the Integra was created and priced only slightly higher than the most expensive Honda model, but well below the prevailing price of the Legend. With this pricing plan in place, Honda believed accurately that Integra/RSX owners would eventually opt for a more upscale Acura. Today, however, Honda is now actively separating the two brands with individual research and development departments in play. Furthermore, Acura is being repositioned to better compete against Infiniti and Lexus, two Japanese luxury brands without a bridge model.

Invest Elsewhere — Related to the first point, the RSX was due for a change. The current model is old and the monies to bring about a new model would take away from the company’s bottom line. Acura has mentioned that a coupe version of its popular TL sedan is likely to be introduced to satisfy whatever consumer demand remains for a luxury coupe.

Changing Consumer Tastes — While a sports coupe has its advantages, the market for this type of car is limited and dwindling. Chevrolet gave up the Camaro, Pontiac the Firebird, while the Mitsubishi Eclipse and Ford Mustang manage to hold their own. None of these cars are on the luxury level of the Acura and consumer interest has been steadily dwindling over the past five years.

A New NSX? — Acura’s discontinued NSX, a two seat sports car, is rumored to be coming back. Although sales will likely be limited to less than 10,000 models annually the high priced NSX would be the “halo” model for the Acura fleet. USA Acura dealers want the car and it appears that the Honda Motor Company many oblige.

In its heyday the Integra was a popular seller and a frequently stolen car. Hard to find parts made the Integra a popular target of thieves; expect this problem to worsen as the RSX goes completely out of production. So, if you don’t have an alarm system installed on your Integra/RSX yet, do so today. The Integra/RSX you currently drive may be the last one you own; don’t let thieves make that determination for you!
