Intelius: the Internet Information Company
Launched in January 2003, Intelius has already proven its worth. Just three years from its founding, the company became America’s Best New Company.
The American Business Awards crowned it so during its fourth yearly gala, which was held in New York City in 2006. This after Intellius’ founder, Naveen Jain, had barely even left his first company, InfoSpace.
To date, the company has reportedly gained seven million unique users. The website alone, Intelius.com, has ranked on the top 100 websites of celebrated Internet benchmark, comScore.
Intelius is growing rapidly, too. Inc. Magazine, a publication that measures the performance of privately traded companies all across America, placed the company on its “500″ list for two years in a row. That means the company ranks as one of the 500 fastest-growing private American companies. The company’s revenues for 2007 reached $89 million.
There are over a hundred services offered by Intellius today. These services deal with background checks, and are critical for security-wary consumers and businesses alike. Identity theft protection services form another significant portion of the company’s services; one such service, IDWatch, is an industry award-winner. Jain’s company also provides address trackers for reuniting people long disconnected from each other.
Background checks are essentially reports about specific individuals. With such, human resources personnel can make better-informed decisions regarding a person’s employment. For consumers, that means a lot less criminals, sex offenders, and con artists in their lives. More recently, the company marketed its background checking services as useful tools in online dating.
Intelius sells these services from its headquarters in Bellevue, Washington. Jain created the Internet information company after leading InfoSpace.com a web content startup that became a formidable Wall Street player for seven years. He presently serves as the Intelius’ chief executive officer.
