Featuring this One Woman Show Who Finally Has Great Expectations

Firstly, I couldn’t characterize myself as downright comfortable living alone and remain an honest woman. However, I’m not unhappy in that way, either. I just suggest it here as an appetizing little tidbit setting up the story I will shortly explain in grand style.

This time last week yours truly met for coffee with Stacey, thinking of buying a membership to a Dallas Singles dating service. Now, I type to each of you as a surprisingly pleased member of the matchmaking service. Seriously, and I almost don’t believe it myself! It’s full of fun, attractive people! If you’ve been paying attention, you may be wondering, “You got some ’splainin to do, Lucy!”

Well, I noticed these Great Expectations Reviews and can really get behind their approach. They’re for quality and professional singles who care enough to know dating should mean something.

‘Cause I’d never been interested in the ridiculous nightlife ritual most people call “The Dating Game.” I heard it more than you know. Day and night readers pester, “You’re still single? ” and “Please tell me you two are dating.”

“Nonsense,” I reply, without missing a beat. “There’s nothing to date!”

“Not true,” they say. “How would you know, you haven’t seen Friday Night Magic in a year!”

Thankfully, that’s my friend The One-And-Only :-P Stacey McCarthy. She pours the best ideas to my mind to put me back on course. People are always there for fresh advice. No countering that, so I signed up.

Coming home to the theme of this essay. As I picked from more than three hundred combinations of outfits for my first singles event with Great Expectations, I realized something deep. For years, I hadn’t entertained the greatest of emotional great expectations for dating in the serendipitous journey of life. Being single isn’t so bad, specifically when you get out there and have fun. Holding great expectations works terrifically in dating.

Symptoms of a Panic Attack - Do You Suffer from Horrible Anxiety Attacks

The fact that we exist means that we routinely have to defeat life’s obstructions. It seems that the more we develop technology and paths to create things more rapidly, the more panic attacks (anxiety–treatment.info) increase. We should examine this further. Some might believe that progress in technology would contribute to easing the strain. Nevertheless, anxiety and depression appear worse now than they ever were in the past. Chances are that in past times, it was not mannerly to discuss these topics. For sure that is not the same nowadays. Fact is, if you engage in any TV watching, I’m sure you’ve witnessed some sort of ad for a medicine, which provides panic attacks treatment (http://panicattacks-help.net).

These issues are rising to the surface and being discussed openly. It does not matter if it is a phobic disorder of huge crowds or a sleep disorder, scientists are always coming up with different ways to fix it. Receiving quite a bit of their attention is panic attacks and depressive disorder. When I ponder the notion of depression, I think of an individual who has of late suffered the loss of a loved one or someone who is impaired in such a way that prevents them from carrying on normally. In most situations this is not the case. Many folk are weighed down by the burden of anxiety and depressive disorder for other reasons. Some of which are not even known. The food we consume could easily be a reason. Peculiarly, contentment with life is elusive to most individuals.

Adolescents, as associated with this issue, are of a particular interest. Panic attacks and depression appears to be hitting them more than anyone these days. Granted, being a teenager is rough in some aspects, and unbelievably simple in others. Some teenagers may claim that it is all bad. We all were teens at least once. We have not forgotten our experiences. However, panic attacks were not part of my teen experience. Who knows what has happened in the last ten years. Anxiety attacks should not be a part of childhood. In point of fact, anxiety and depression should be much less frequent than it is altogether.

Stop Holding Yourself Back

Try this exercise. Take a sheet of paper and list down all the emotions you can think of…
Take a couple of minutes and if possible, keep writing for as long as you can… Come on, do it.
I’ll still be here when you get back.

Now, take your list and go back over what you wrote and give each of those emotions a listing out of 10
(one for weakest, ten for strongest) based on how strongly you have personally felt each of them.

Just a clue, the ones you wrote down first will probably rate higher. If it took you two minutes of
fairly dedicated thinking to come up with an emotion, you’ve probably never really felt that particular
emotion very strongly. And by the way fellas, there are more than two emotions….

Next, if necessary, go through your list and put them in order of strength with the strongest at the
top and the weakest (the ones) at the bottom.

Once you have done that, answer this question:

How far down the list did you have to go before you came to an emotion that usually has a positive spin on it?

Many of the people I try this exercise with find that it is not until the third or fourth one on
their list that they come to an emotion that usually has a positive slant. How about you???

No wonder researchers show that 95% of your self-talk is negative!

Once you become aware of that, you are a large part of the way to being able to change it.

But why would you want to change it?

After all, you’ve come this far in life with a whole lot of negative self talk.

But that’s just the point. If you got this far with all that negative feedback, just imagine how much more
you can achieve if that negativity stopped, or at least was reduced.

But it’s important for you to realise that in order to turn off the flow of negative thoughts
and turn on the flow of positive thoughts and self talk will take some time, some effort, some
commitment, some discipline.

And its not something you can do for just a few minutes a day. Its something you need to work on
all the time.

It’s a bit like dieting, or exercise. You can’t do two minutes of exercise every now and then and
hope to achieve any improvement in your fitness level.

Nor can you have a healthy breakfast then “pig out” on greasy foods for the rest of the day and expect to lose any weight.

There is any number of different exercises you can undertake to change your self talk from negative to positive.
We will look at one or two shortly. You may find others that suit you better. But they all have one thing in common.
Each of the exercises has as its basis the replacement of all the negative images, or bits of information you
have stored in your subconscious with positive ones.

With all of these exercises you will need to exercise some personal discipline.

The world in which we live seems fascinated by bad news. No doubt you have heard it said that
‘bad news sells’. Good news, apparently does not sell, at least not newspapers.

And bad news produces more bad news as each tries to top someone else’s disaster with their own
“you think that’s something, wait till you hear what happened to…”
(you can almost hear echoes of the Monty Python Yorkeshiremen’s skit…”Shoes, you war looky…. “)

It’s as if we need to find some justification, some excuse for feeling the way we do.

And why do we feel the way we do?

Because that little voice in our heads keeps up a constant stream, telling us how stupid,
how dumb, how clumsy, how hopeless we really are.

Absolutely everything you have ever experienced through your sense gates is sitting there in your
subconscious, just waiting for the time when it can be used in answer to one of the questions,
one of the requests for information your conscious mind gives to the subconscious.
It’s there, It cannot be deleted. But it can be diluted, even swamped.

What I mean by that is one way you can lessen the negative self talk is to fill your life with positive
material. No, I’m not suggesting you live in some unreal utopian existence that has no basis in reality.
Rather, I am suggesting you choose, quite deliberately the material you experience.

So, rather than watching the nightly news service,

read a biography of a famous person, particularly if
that person overcame some sort of adversity to make something of themselves.

Listen to or read some self development materials.

Listen to your favourite music.

There is any number of videos that put magnificent still life photos and nature videos to music. Buy and watch some. You will be surprised how healing it can be.

These are just a few ideas to get you thinking in the right direction. You can probably come up with a whole lot more
ideas that suit you, simply by asking your subconscious the question “What positive things can I do, can I
read, can I listen to that will be enjoyable enough that I will want to keep doing them?” And give your
subconscious some time to come up with answers to that question.

Will that change your life?

You’d better believe it.

Top 10 Tips For The Best Year of Your Life!

We typically think of New Year’s as the time to make annual resolutions and start fresh. Unfortunately, we all know that most resolutions are quickly forgotten. The good new is that “now” is always the best time to take charge of your future and create the life you want. Real success is about choosing your priorities, and then following a plan that emphasizes the things that are most important to you. With that in mind, here are 10 suggestions for creating a wonderful, productive and rewarding year for yourself (and your practice)!

1. Take time to decide what you really want this year. What would make it a great year, a fantastic year for you? Dream and scheme, and then dream bigger! And write it down, just for the fun of it.

2. Mark one day each month, just for you. Use ink, not pencil, and schedule an appointment with yourself for one full day each month. Have fun and renew yourself, just for the joy of it. Every single month. No exceptions.

3. Take more vacation that you had planned. Look at the calendar and write in a couple extra weeks off! Relax. Do things you enjoy. Go camping, rent a cabin at the beach, visit old friends, or climb a mountain. Just do it!

4. Commit to a project you’ve dreamed of but haven’t done. This is not a “should” or a “have to”. It’s an “I’ve always wanted to but never did” project. Learn to ski, write a book, visit Niagara Falls, start a business, or run for mayor. This is the time!

5. Buy four books you’ve always wanted to read, and schedule time for them. Put it in your appointment calendar as “continuing education” or “research”, and enjoy!

6. Donate time each week to a cause or group that needs your help. Mentor a child, support the Red Cross, volunteer at your house of worship. Make a difference.

7. Renew relationships with family and friends. Every week, send a note or make a call, and re-connect with the people who have helped you along the way.

8. Make a point every single day to tell someone you appreciate them, that you are grateful for their help. Practice the attitude of gratitude!

9. Raise your sites and increase your goals. Double what you expect of yourself and your world, then commit to making it happen! Expect great things.

10. Be kind to yourself and those around you. Be gentle, practice patience, expect the best and settle for nothing less.

That’s it for this week. Is it Barbra Streisand who says, “Be good to yourself, and to someone else”? Have a wonderful week!

People Who Get What They Want: What Are They Thinking?

Imagine being able to choose any outcome and automatically
feel motivated to make it happen.

No matter what’s standing in your way, you’d be so driven
that you would blow right past it. You would get what you
wanted every time.

Sound too good to be true?

I thought so too, until I learned a basic truth about the
way we think and act. When you know how it works, it’s easy
to create a drive that compels you to do whatever it takes
to create the kind of life you’ve always wanted to live.

So, what is the truth and how can we use it to get what we
want? Let’s find out.

THE UNDENIABLE FACT OF LIFE

It’s so simple that it’s often overlooked. And because most
people don’t realize how powerful this truth really is,
most people don’t know how to get what they want.

Wouldn’t you agree with that statement?

Out of the millions of people who wish for a better life,
only a very, very small percentage actually get what
they’re after.

And there’s a reason: they overlook the basic truths of
life and fail to use them to their advantage.

I don’t want you to make the same mistakes, so let this
idea really sink in…

- We do what we do for a reason. -

In other words, some kind of reason, whether good or bad,
is at the root of everything we do. To the average person,
this doesn’t mean much, but you’re not average. You’ll soon
be able to see just why this is such a powerful idea.

WHY DO PEOPLE FAIL?

If you asked ten people on the street why they want to
change or improve their lives, I have no doubt that you
would get a whole lot of,

‘Huh? Um…I’m not really sure. I guess I never thought
about it,’

or…

‘Because it would make me happy.’

Sorry, but that just isn’t good enough. I said we do what
we do for a reason, but not just any reason. It has to be
a good one, a powerful one. When you put a weak reason
behind any goal, it’s not going to happen.

‘It will make me happy,’ isn’t strong or specific enough.
It doesn’t excite or inspire. Taking into account the way
our mind works, this is never going to move you to action.

And this is why so many people keep wishing for a better
life instead of enjoying one. They don’t have good enough
reasons behind their goals.

So what’s the answer?

WHAT CAN I DO?

Develop better reasons!

It’s that simple. If I told you that walking across the
room would radically change and improve your life in an
instant - and you truly believed it - I guarantee you would
be moving your feet right now.

Why?

Because the reason moved you to action. It was powerful
enough to make things happen.

And that’s what you need to do when it comes to your own
ideas of a happier, more successful life.

Think of yourself as a master storyteller. The better story
you tell about what success will do for you, the faster it
will happen. When you sell yourself on what you want,
you’ll effortlessly and automatically be driven to make it
happen.

And it all starts with a good reason.

So take some time right now to think of at least three
great reasons why your goal is worth achieving. Make them
specific, powerful, exciting, and inspiring.

The better the reason, the better the result. So make your
reasons for success so powerful, so compelling, so enticing
that you can’t help but follow through with action.

Motivation: The 3 Vision Questions

What kind of lifestyle and career would get you up early, keep you up late, and cause you to live each and every day with excitement, purpose and passion?

Would that not be a great way to live and spend the day, everyday?

Once we get clear on the answer to that question, we are well on our way to living a life of purpose on purpose.

So just how do we get clear on these things? That’s a good question, and that is where the three vision questions come in.

3 vision questions

1. If you could design your life any way you wanted, how would it be?

2. If you knew you couldn’t fail, what would you do?

3. If you had unlimited resources, time, money and support, what would you create?

The answers to these questions can point you in the direction of living on purpose.

While you are considering these questions, be careful to avoid focusing only on work and career. All of these questions and suggestions can be applied to relationships, family and recreation as well.

It’s been said that “without a vision the people perish.” That is true of a nation, of a career, of a marriage and of a family.

Now, go answer these three vision questions and go use this stuff!

Personal Quotas

Just as salespeople might have monthly sales quotas to meet, you can apply the concept of quotas to your personal productivity as well. I use this technique often and have found it highly effective for certain types of projects. Here’s how it works:

For each project you want to tackle tomorrow, set a minimum output goal. The goal must be measurable. I usually use time as the unit of measurement because I can always measure the time you invest in a project, but I might not be able to clearly and consistently measure any other aspects. Also using time as the measurement factor makes it easier to plan my day.

For example, I have a daily quota of writing of 4 hours per day. This is for a book I’m writing blogging or writing articles doesn’t count. So every week I’m doing a minimum of 28 hours of work just on the book. I could also have used a minimum number of words or pages per day for my quota, but I like doing it by time best, since a large part of writing includes research, outlining, brainstorming, editing, and other tasks aside from merely cranking out text. I find my daily quotas highly effective at keeping me moving this project forward. I also put a restriction on myself that I never check email until after I’ve hit the quota. Most days I’ve reached it by noon, sometimes by 10am. The nice thing about having a daily quota for this type of project is that I know that if I simply meet my quota every day, the book will eventually ship. Guaranteed.

Using quotas is similar to timeboxing, but with timeboxing you’re only dealing with a single box of time all at once. With quotas you can split up the time investment throughout the day. And you can also use a measurement factor other than time if you find it appropriate.

You can also use maximum quotas when you want to limit the amount of time you spend on certain activities. For example, you could set a maximum quota on the time you spend web surfing, watching TV, or reading forums.

I’m sure you can think of many other ways to use quotas in your life. If you have a clogged inbox, you could set a quota of clearing out 10-20 emails per day until your inbox is empty. If you have a messy filing cabinet, you could set a quota of updating 5-10 files per day. Quotas work best when you use them every day (or every weekday), and you make the target highly controllable. This is why I like basing it on time, since all I have to do is put in the time, regardless of how creative I’m feeling and how productive I am that particular day.

How can you use quotas in your own life to fast-track a slow-moving project?
